Corinth- Neil Lewis Merrill, 70, passed away peacefully on June 25th 2014 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters, after a courageous battle with lung disease. He was born on May 6, 1944 the son of Lewis and Christina Merrill (Goodwin) of Stetson. Neil will be remembered as a quiet and caring and gentle man, but most of all a loving husband, father and Papa, to his girls. His greatest joys in his life was his time with his family. Summer picnics, ice-creams at Bucksport and adventure rides, made each day, a day to remember, as along as his girls were with him. Neil graduated from East Corinth Academy, and was a dedicated and proud worker for the Maine Department of Transportation, for 37 years, retiring in 2000 as an interstate foreman. Neil is survived by his loving wife of 44 years Elaine; two devoted daughters, Julie and her husband Stephen Sudsbury and Debbie and her husband Mark Aptt; two cherished granddaughters that were his world, Chelsey and Gracie Aptt; four sisters, Ann Drew, Cheryl Pelkey, Marilyn Merrill, and Linda Westcott. A special mother and father-in-law Elden and Shirley Clark; brothers-in-law Kenny and wife Gail Clark, and Buddy Clark; several special nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Neil was predeceased by a brother, Wayne; a very special sister Joan; brothers-in-law John Drew and Richard Wescott.
