STETSON - On September 10, 2021 at 7:23 AM, Nellie Rose Stewart, surrounded by her family, left this earth and walked into the arms of Jesus. She was born February 18, 1942, in Grays Landing, Pennsylvania, the daughter of John Albert and Sarah Ellen (Whyel) Isler.
Nellie embodied a true servant’s heart as she worked tirelessly, her entire life in the health care field. With a sparkle in her eyes, her passion shined through in her mission to care for others. In addition to her career, Nellie demonstrated extraordinary strength as she balanced working outside of the home while raising seven children. Through sorrow and grief, Nellie had a way of showing beauty and grace. Nellie loved her family and friends. Her large family was blessed by her cooking and baking. Whether for a few or many, Nellie loved feeding the loves of her life. Her favorite flower was the Rose, her favorite color was purple, and the position of favorite child was finally won over by the newest member, Baby Bear, the sweetest little puppy that arrived on her doorstep two years ago. As she and dad entered their golden years, Baby Bear became a gift of joy and purpose for them.
Above all else, Nellie’s true love, the lover of her soul, was Jesus. She was a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church and though she was often in pain, you could find her sitting in the front row. She taught her family the ways of the Lord and her last words were of encouragement and hope that she would see them all one day on Heaven’s side. She understood that her time on earth was fleeting but that life hereafter was eternal. Nellie was a prayer warrior and as her life weighed in the balance, she spoke clearly that she was ready to see Jesus, the author and finisher of her faith.
Nellie celebrated 47 years of marriage to Dewey Stewart on August 23, 2021. Surviving, in addition to Dewey, are her children, William Horne and his wife, Toma, of Masontown, Pennsylvania; Mary Ann House and her husband, Tom, of Uniontown, Pennsylvania; Robert Horne and his wife, Donna, of Republic, Pennsylvania; David Horne and his wife, Marie, of Leckrone, Pennsylvania; Natali Plourde and her husband, David of West Gardiner, Maine; Lisa Rowe and her husband, Michael, of Corinth, Maine; Dewey Stewart Jr. and his wife, Kara, of Scottdale, Pennsylvania.
