Norma Jacqueline Bridges

January 29, 1926 — September 27, 2020

Milo - Norma Jacqueline (Munro) Bridges, 94, of Milo, Maine, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2020. She was born January 29, 1926, in Rockland, Maine to Sidney and Eula (Stone) Munro. Norma was the fifth oldest of eleven children. She leaves behind four siblings, Glenice Cuthbertson, Laura Dudley, Richard Munro and Nancy Stonestreet. She was preceded by six of her remaining siblings, Bernice Chadwick, Ralph Munro, Lucy McLain, Sidney Munro, Charlotte Flaherty and Doris Rogers. Norma was married to Albert A. Cuthbertson, of Thomaston, for 25 years, until his unexpected death. Together, they adopted two children: Rhonda (Cuthbertson) Brown-Winterbottom and Arthur A. Cuthbertson. They also cared for many foster children through the years. Norma loved babies and was always her happiest with one in her arms. Her late husband of 34 years, Stanley R. Bridges, preceded her in death in 2018. They shared many wonderful years together. Norma was close with her sisters. One of her sisters, 91, said “What I remember most is Norma’s beautiful singing voice. She loved singing solos, duets and sometimes trios with her sisters Glenice and Laura. The last time I heard her sing, I asked her to name her favorite song; she said, “WON'T IT BE WONDERFUL THERE, By James Rowe” and she began to sing, I joined, and we sang it together. I was close to Norma, we shared time together fostering children and watching our adopted children grow up. Norma was a very special sister to me and my friend. I will miss her!” As a child, Norma’s daughter Rhonda remembers how beautiful her mom appeared to her “like an angel” when she would sing “NO ONE EVER CARED FOR ME LIKE JESUS, by Dr. Charles Weigle. Norma had many talents. She could knit, crochet, sew, create canvas art, play the piano and the accordion. Throughout her life, Norma taught Sunday School and loved going to church. Norma’s son Arthur said, “until her final days, she loved to worship her Lord, read her bible and listened to gospel music often”. Arthur fondly remembers how at 90 she was still playing with her great-grandchildren and shared a special bond with her dog “Tyke”. “Mom will be missed by all of her family and church family, said Arthur”. Norma leaves behind her grandchildren; Jamie, Teddy, Matthew, Caity, Chip, Leila, Timmy, Joshua and great grandchildren; Eric, Kristin, Adam, Jemma, Andersin, and Paisley. She is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Todd and Rhonda Brown-Winterbottom, of Kenduskeag, Maine and Son and daughter-in-law, Arthur and Renee Cuthbertson, of Milo, Maine. Norma had two grandchildren, Jimmy and Amanda Brown, predecease her in 1996. A special thank you to all the staff at Ross Manor, Engel Place, Bangor, Maine.
