BANGOR – Norma Jean (Philbrick) Spencer, 87, passed away September 17, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was co-owner of Bud and Rays Auto Body Shop for over 68 years with her late loving husband, Wyatt (Bud) Spencer III.
Norma loved, inspired, and touched many but most of all her family. She had ears that truly listened, arms that held, love especially for family always wanting to be part of all celebrations for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Norma loved everything in life but most of all her late husband. She had strong opinions and was sure to express them. Norma treated everyone like family. She would care for families in the neighborhood making homemade donuts and cooking for them. She would work hours decorating fancy butter cookies for all occasions for her daughters to take to school. Norma as a wonderful cook always having left overs and wanting to feed all that stopped by. She enjoyed camping, horseracing, auto racing, and snowmobiling. She was patriotic often giving to the disabled veterans.
She is survived by two daughters, Renee (Gary) Smith, Darcel (William) Bryant. Precious grandchildren Jesse (Mandie) Smith, Courtney (Matt) Colton, Whitney Bryant, Katrice (Ben) Hinton, Gabrielle (Zach) Sugar, Bayley Bryant and Nick Himmelwright, Flo Dalrymple Millington and twelve great grandchildren. Also, two special people she considered her fourth daughter and son, Pamela Dunham and Frank Pulver. Norma was predeceased by her loving husband Wyatt “Bud” Spencer III, her daughter Wyann Millington and grandson Travis Millington.
The family would like to thank the wonderful compassionate caregivers over the past three and half years, Bayley Bryant, Alex Urban. Amy White, Jodi Jackson, the late Sue Gilio, and Jeannie Schwabe.
A service of remembrance will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday , October 7, 2024, at Brookings- Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor with Rev. Chad L. Poland, Pastor and Teacher of All Souls Church, officiating. The family invites family and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the home of Jesse and Mandie Smith, 98 Crogan Road, Hermon, following the service. The immediate family will arrive following a brief committal service at the cemetery.
