Norris Wade

March 20, 1918 — December 25, 2015

Norris Wade went home to be with the Lord on December 25, 2015 in Bangor, Maine. Norris was born on March 20, 1918 in Bradford, Maine. There, he met the love of his life, Nellie Allen—and together they shared 72 years of marriage, family and love.
A Purple Heart recipient, Norris served in the US Army during the 2nd World War. After returning home, he lived a full, humble life in which he enjoyed every minute, surrounded by his family and cherished friends. His passion for friendly conversation was fueled by a strong desire to share the world he knew and a curiosity to discover the things he didn’t. There was never a job too big or too small – he offered his help to all in need.
For Norris, his family was the center of his world. His favorite place to be was sitting around the dinner table—always times full of laughter and love. He loved to take his family on vacations – he happily recounted those memories every day for the rest of his life. Family, friends and nature were the secret to Norris’ happiness.
He is survived by his wife of 72 years, Nellie, and their children, Valerie Hurd of Charleston, Russell Wade of Savannah, Georgia, Terry Wade of Odessa, Florida and Robin Hull of Stratford, CT. Norris was blessed with lifelong memories with his five grandchildren, six great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday December 31, 2015 at Brookings-Smith 133 Center St., Bangor with Donald Booker, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith 163 Center St., Bangor immediately following the service. Spring interment will be held in the Williams Cemetery, Bradford. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com
We will miss you Norris. Until we meet again to share a laugh on our next walk through the woods…
