Orin Nason

January 3, 1926 — December 2, 2013

BANGOR and HERMON – Orin S. Nason left this world at 10:50pm on December 2, 2013 to go home with the Lord. He was born Jan. 3, 1926 to Harry and Marion (Leonard) Nason.

Orin was a US Army veteran who loved his country and fellow veterans alike. He was a jack of all trades to make sure his family was cared for. The great sense of humor he had will forever be in the hearts of all those who knew him. He was a great father to his 5 stepdaughters whom he raised with great love as his own.

Orin went home with the Lord to join the loved ones gone before him. He leaves behind his 5 stepdaughters and lots of great memories to cherish until the day they will join him. The family wishes to extend special thanks to nurses David Higgins, Aimee Whitty and Casey Brann from the 3rd floor at EMMC for their compassion and great care of Orin in his last 48 hours of life as well as a special thanks to Sue Ross for the 10 years she provided the compassionate care as his home health aide. Surviving are 5 stepdaughters, Tammy Young and her husband, Lewis of Bangor, Candice Davis of North Carolina, Violet Laasch and her husband, David of Brewer, Melanie Petty and her husband, John of Hermon, Melissa Fortier and her husband, Joseph; his special granddaughter Katelynn; special great-granddaughter, Mary Groesbeck; 8 grandsons, Travis Young and his wife, Crystal, Wayne Niski, Shane Thompson and his wife, Heather, Bruce Gray Jr., Jeremy Hoxie, David Carr, Nicholas Green, Christopher Arthur; 11 granddaughters, Jessilynn, Rachel and Shawnna Young, Shannon Moretto and her husband, Joe, Amber Wood, Felicia Gray and fiancé Kareem Kirkland, Sarah Gray and companion, Ron Henry, Amy Young, Erica Groesbeck and her husband, Brian, Rakel Arthur and Katelynn Fortier; 5 great-grandsons, Malici Young, Gabriel and Gavrie Eslin, TreVon Kirkland and Anthony Henry; great- granddaughters, Mary Groesbeck, VogueElle Kirkland, Rylee Reed, Kaylee and Brook Southards, Reese Thompson, Justyna Young, Arianna Niski, Brooklyn Kirkland; 2 nephews, Paul Nason and his wife, Emma and Clarence Nason, all of Ohio; sister-in-law, Martha Raymon of Ohio; many dear friends and other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Orin would be pleased if anyone attending his services came casually dressed. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 4 to 6pm Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A funeral service will be held 1pm Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church, 517 Hammond Street, Bangor with the Rev. Charles Hurst, pastor, officiating. Interment will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to join them for a reception following the interment at the Apostolic Lighthouse Church.
