CARMEL – Ottilie (Dolly) Elmer (Simpson) Gray passed away after a brief illness on January 27, 2023 at the age of 97. Ottilie was born September 26, 1925 in Bangor to Earl Simpson and Barbara (Brockway) Simpson.
After graduating from Bangor High School and Husson College, Dolly worked at Border Express, Lemforder, and retiring from Chute Chemical Co. She married Philip Gray in 1955 enjoying over twenty years together raising their two daughters. After the passing of her husband, Dolly took pleasure in a quiet life with her beloved dogs Lady and Flint. She enjoyed spending time in her gardens and earlier in life loved spending time with her horses. In later years, she found her greatest joy in her great-grandchildren
Ottilie was predeceased by her husband, Philip Gray; parents Earl and Barbara Simpson; sisters Helen Simpson, Virginia Simpson, and Una Withee. She is survived by daughters Sheila Leavitt, and Sharon Polyot and husband Mike; granddaughter Jessica Scroggins and husband Don, great-grandchildren William, Harper, and Bryson; cousin Rhonda Brockway; as well as a special neighbor, Dale Leavitt.
