Patricia Ann “Patti Ann” (Newcomb) Lord, 84, died on March 12, 2022. She was born in Glen Ridge, New Jersey on May 15, 1937. She lived in Glen Ridge with her family and attended school there. Most of her summers were spent at the beach in Scituate, Massachusetts. In the early 1950’s, Patti moved to Scituate with her mother and two sisters. The next move a few years later would to Belfast, Maine.
Patti graduated from Crosby High School in Belfast in 1955. Following graduation, she attended cosmetology school in Bangor. Patti was the owner and operator of “Patti Ann Hairstylists” in Belfast for 30 years as well as The Hayford Collection – a gift store. In 1987, she was awarded Business Person of the Year for the City of Belfast by the Chamber of Commerce.
Patti served three terms on the Belfast City Council (being the first women in the history of the city to be elected to the council). She was a director for the Belfast Improvement Group (a forerunner to the Chamber of Commerce). She graduated from the University of Maine in 1986.
Patti began her career as a real estate broker in 1989. She was the President of the Mid Coast Board of Realtors in 1996 and was awarded the Realtor of the Year for the Mid Coast Board of Realtors in 1999. Patti belonged to the Belfast Rotary Club for 25 years. She was the Rotary President from 1998 to 1999.
Patti leaves three children; Marjorie Ann Crowley and husband Bob Fenton of Northport, John Joseph Patten and partner Jean LeClair of Old Orchard Beach, and Susan Lee Patten and husband Rick Madden of Orrington; seven granddaughters, Meghan, Katie, Emily, Cynthia, Carolyn, Brooke, and Ayla; a very special great grandson Zachary Malo; two sisters, Lois Marie Nealley of Bangor and Ellen Lee Spooner and husband Peter of Orrington. She was also grateful for her nieces and nephews with whom she spent much time in recent years. She was predeceased by her father, E. Allen Newcomb of Montclair, New Jersey; and mother, Catherine “Cissie” E. Grady and step father, J. Joseph Grady of Belfast, Maine; and her partner, Adrian J. Brooks “Brooksie” of Belfast.
Graveside funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, March 17, 2022, at Mt. Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, 449 Ohio Street, Bangor. Please use the cemetery entrance marked “John”.
