Patrick Walsh

June 14, 1953 — May 1, 2015

Patrick J. Walsh, 61, died after a brief illness on May 1, 2015, at a Bangor hospital. He was born June 14, 1953, in Woonsocket, RI, the son of Joseph and Patricia (Dalton) Walsh.

Pat graduated from Rockland HS in 1971. He worked as a swordfisherman, at Bancroft with special needs children, and at OHI, while also serving with fire departments in St. George and Orono. While also volunteering with the American Red Cross, he was offered a position working with the Pine Tree Chapter, where he worked for 25 years. His work pioneering HIV awareness in the migrant worker camps won awards and the project was replicated across the country for its novel approach and effectiveness. Pat's proudest achievement, however, was raising his daughter, Kelsey.

In addition to his parents, Pat was predeceased by his brother, Shawn. He is survived by his daughter, Kelsey Everett and her husband, Cassius; his wife, Kate (Woznik) Walsh; step daughter, Beth Kevit; siblings, Colleen, Richard, Erin, Joseph and Kerry; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and many dear friends.

A celebration of Pat’s life will be held 4 -7 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St. Bangor. Condolences to the family may be expressed at www.BrookingsSmith.com.
