Paul Bouchard

May 5, 1936 — January 9, 2023

Levant - Paul and his twin sister Pauline were born in Boston, Massachusetts during The Great Depression, on May 5, 1936. Paul lived in Ipswich, Massachusetts, along with his siblings, Pauline and George.

He entered the United States Air Force in 1958, where he worked as an Electronic Warfare Officer and Navigator. Paul married Harriet (Caverly), the love of his life, in 1959, and spent years living in Mississippi and South Carolina. He earned his Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of South Carolina in 1968, moved his family to Michigan, and worked as a Design Engineer for Ford Motor Company until he returned to New England with his family in 1977, settling in Levant, Maine. In Maine, he joined the Bangor Air National Guard, and ended his career there as Lieutenant Colonel. Paul was the first owner of the Bangor Midas Muffler shop, and subsequently owned shops in Waterville, Ellsworth, and Westbrook.

Paul was a long-standing member of the Bangor Lions Club, having spent countless hours volunteering in the community. Some of the things he loved most in life included: his childhood dog, Peter; his first motorcycle, the Famous James; going to his family camp in Limington; playing golf; reading about military history; raising Huskies; listening to musicians, Johnny Cash, Ray Price, Hank Snow, and Hank Williams; and listening to, and reading poetry by, Robert Frost. One of Paul’s favorite lines by Robert Frost was, “Two roads diverged in a wood and I chose the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”

Paul was the last surviving sibling in his family, and is survived by his wife, Harriet Bouchard; son, Henri Bouchard; daughter-in-law, Angela Bouchard; daughter, Joelle Jackson; son-in-law, Joseph Jackson; grandchildren, Benjamin Bouchard and Hannah Bouchard; and great-grandchild, Martin Bouchard-Verow.

Services will be private for the family.
