Paul Derwood Corro passed away on November 19, 2023 surrounded by his loving wife and daughters and two of his closest friends. Paul was born on October 2,1936 in Lincoln, Maine to Raymond and Rose Corro. He grew up in Lincoln, Maine and married Carlene Marin in 1960.
Paul worked in the paper mill industry and retired as a foreman from James River Mill in Old Town in 1996. Although he had a strong work ethic, his proudest accomplishment was being a devoted husband, Daddy and a Papa. He taught his children to have a love for life and always “keep the faith” and “calm down”.
Paul and Carlene, his wife of 63 years, spent their best days fishing in their boat, ice-fishing on Chamberlain Lake, brook fishing in their secret spots, and enjoying many adventures with family and friends on Moosehead Lake.
Paul was an avid outdoorsman, instilling a love of it in his four girls. Out of necessity, he taught them to be strong and work hard, giving them many outdoor chores. In the early days, Paul took his family on many great adventures in their Corro Bus with a big blue canvas tent. Later, they would upgrade campers until their final camper rested its bones at Addi’s camp on Moosehead lake. Paul was a great girl dad. He taught his daughters to drive, farm, “do wood”, play cribbage and horseshoes, and he was the master at digging a bean hole and doing the bean dance to bless the beans. Above all, he taught his girls to love and pay attention to what’s going on in the world. Paul lived a big life, loved big and was extremely proud of his family and his property
He was loved by his four daughters, Mona Corro, Rodonna Washburn, Karen Corro-Raymond, and Kim Oldenburgh and her spouse, Mark Hayward; his seven grandchildren: Kristie, Adam, Nikki and her spouse, Bryan, Rebecca, Kelsey and her spouse, Josh, Ally and her spouse Ian, and Carly and her spouse, Nick; and nine great grandchildren: Kyden, Connar, Sofia, Addi, David, Patrick, Elliott, Abby, and Stella. He will also be missed by his special friend, Searle Sweet. He is survived by his sister, Marylou Brown.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
