Brewer - Paul A. Shibles, 88, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2021, after a long illness. Paul was born on May 5, 1933. He grew up in, and spent his life at his family's home on Wilson Street in Brewer.
Paul was employed at Getchell Brothers, and Footman's Dairy before retiring at age 55. He enjoyed fishing and gardening, and was a voracious reader of history. Paul was amply supplied with reading material by his friend, James Mundy. He cursed the winter, and waged war against the snow and ice plowed into his driveway!
Paul adopted, and was adopted by many families on Wilson Street; the Elkin's, Caser's, Sawyer's, Roy's, Servisky's and many others. The children of these families held a special place in his heart, as he did in theirs. He took joy in assisting them in their many endeavors.
Paul is survived by his brother, Dr. David Shibles, of Lakeland, Florida, and his four stepdaughters. He was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Marguerite Shibles; brother, Dr. Burleigh Shibles; and one step niece.
A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 27,2021 at Rogers Cemetery, Rogers Road, in Troy, Maine. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Paul's name to the First United Methodist Church, 40 South Main St., Brewer, ME 04412, or to the Salvation Army.
