Paul Strout

December 26, 1921 — February 5, 2015

BANGOR – Paul R. Strout, 93, died peacefully Feb. 5, 2015, at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born Dec. 26, 1921, in Charleston, the son of Milford M. and Addie Mae (Robbins) Strout.
Paul graduated high school from Higgins Classical Institute in Charleston. Following graduation, he proudly served in the Army Air Corps in the South Pacific during WWII. He was a radio operator on a B25 Bomber. After the war, he attended college, graduating from Beal College with his degree in Accounting. He met and married Lois Lincoln of LaGrange. They shared 59 years together. Paul was a loyal and dedicated employee as office manager/accountant for Bean & Conquest for over 30 years. He was well known for his skill and knowledge in accounting and tax preparation. Paul had a fondness for crossword puzzles and was a harness racing enthusiast. Those close to him knew well his inability to ignore his sweet tooth. Paul was always willing to share with the kids and grandkids.
In addition to his parents, Milford and Addie Strout, he was predeceased by his brothers, Norman and wife Ethel Strout, Malcolm and wife Margaret (Jiggs) Strout, Keith Strout, and Robert Strout; brothers-in-law, George Sawyer, Howard Trafton, and Boyd Hopkins. Surviving in addition to his wife Lois (Lincoln) Strout are his son, Brian P. Strout and wife Lori, of Bangor; daughters, Julie Lebowitz and husband Murray, of Bangor, Paula Benoit and husband Joe, of Bangor, Janice Wagner and husband Doug, of Bangor; son Ronnie M. Strout and wife Karen, of Warner Robbins, GA; seventeen grandchildren, Emily Wing, Norman Campbell, Andrew Koncinsky, Jennifer Durham, Julie Hovencamp, Joe Campbell, Lindsay Hartwell, Michelle Goody, Krysta Koncinsky, Laura Tardiff, Clacy Haslett, Zachary Strout, Max Lebowitz, Abby Lebowitz, Hayley Strout, Taylor Heard, and Maddie Strout; Paul was blessed with eleven great grandchildren, Addison Rickenbach-Wing, Alivia Wing, Russell Hovencamp, Aiden Rickenbach, Cameron Strout, Nathan Strout, Deacon Durham, Sierra Goody, Vera Koncinsky, Fiona Hartwell, and Joseph Hovencamp; sister Barbara Hopkins; brother, Maurice Strout and wife Marilyn; sister, Muriel Sawyer; sister-in-law, Lucille Strout; sister-in-law, Barbara Strout; brother, Donald Strout and wife Lorayne; sister, Nathalie Trafton; and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 1-3 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 8, 2015, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, with the Pastor Jack Dowling, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, following the service. A Spring interment will be in the Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta.
