Paul A. Thompson, 79, died May 10, 2014 in Milbridge. He was born in Belfast, January 1, 1935, the son of Paul C. and Ruth Mildred (Hendrick) Thompson.
Paul graduated from Bangor High School in 1953 and Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute in South Portland in 1956. Paul married B. Rose Haskell of South Portland on July 11, 1956. Together they had four children; daughter Rae Ann M. (Thompson) Teixeira of South Portland; three sons, Mark S. Thompson of Rancho Santa Margarita, CA, Michael S. Thompson of Oakridge, OR, and predeceased by son, Matthew S. Thompson in 1992. They have 5 grandsons, one granddaughter, one great granddaughter and expecting one great grandson in August.
Paul worked for General Electric, State Farm Insurance and as a technician for the Maine National Guard. He joined the 101st Maine National Guard while still in high school. He transferred to the 265th in South Portland, then the 243rd in South Portland and returning to the 101st from which he retired in 1977 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Paul started with IBM in 1966 retiring after 25 years and 17 days in 1991. He was then self-employed for three years performing computer maintenance for the James River Paper Co.
