BANGOR - On Sunday, August 21, 2022, Paul “Turk” Donald Turcotte, 87, loving husband and father of two, passed away peacefully at his home in Bangor, Maine. He was born April 25, 1935, in Lowell Massachusetts, the son of Henry A. and Alice L. (Frechette) Turcotte.
In 1953, Paul joined the United States Air Force and remained in for over 20 years. He was a jet engine mechanic and traveled the world, including Germany, Guam, Thailand, and many more. He had stints in Korea and in Vietnam. He retired in 1974, as a Master Sergeant. Following his discharge, he joined the U.S. Postal Service and remained until his retirement.
On July 23, 1960, he married Bernice “Bunny” Cammack and together, they raised two children; a daughter, Laurie, and a son, Robert.
Paul and Bunny were avid travelers. They RV travelled all over the country. He spent many winters in Key West, Florida, on the military campground, where he met and made many good friends that he would keep for the rest of his life. Paul built a beautiful home in Lucerne-in-Maine that was the hub of the family for many years, always overflowing with great Maine seafood, games, laughter, swimming, boating and love. Paul loved nothing more than having family and friends together around him. He will be sorely missed.
Paul is survived by his loving daughter, Laurie, and her partner, Duane Bartlett; his two grandsons, Chad Russell and Peter Limacher; his siblings, Raymond Turcotte and his wife, Marci, Rita Flynn, Janet Martin and her husband, Donald, Marie Otis and her husband, Tim, Ronald Turcotte and his wife, Beverly; and numerous nephews, nieces and friends. Paul was predeceased by his son, Robert; and his wife, Bunny.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 16, 2022, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 217 York St., Bangor, immediately followed by The Rite of Committal Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
