Peggy Elizabeth (Nason) Swett, 77, passed away December 18, 2021, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. She was born May 9, 1944, in Bangor the daughter of James D. and Ellen M. (Cushing) Nason.
Peggy graduated from Bangor High School in the Class of 1962, and then from the University of Maine with a bachelor’s degree in education in 1966. She was a committed teacher and taught in the Orrington School Department throughout her life and was involved in the educators society of Delta Kappa Gamma. Peggy loved her church and was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church, Bangor. She was very involved with her church and was in the choir, hand bells, Sunday school teacher, and served on about every committee. She was also involved in the United Methodist Women at all levels including being on the National Board of Directors. Peggy spent many summers at Camp Mechuwana, the UMC camp, as both camper and counselor. She was involved in all levels of Girl Scouts and was president of the Abnaki Girl Scout Council.
She is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, David Swett of Levant; a daughter, Lisa Swett of Corinth; grandchildren, Jaddah, Dominick, and Phoenix; also numerous friends she considered her family. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Peter Swett.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, 703 Essex Street, Bangor where masks are required regardless of vaccination status. It can also be viewed on the church facebook page as a livestream and recorded event.
