Philip Frost

December 23, 1936 — August 17, 2021

My wonderful, humble, hardworking husband of almost 62 years and the father of our children passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family Tuesday morning, August 17, 2021. He was born on December 23, 1936 in Hermon, the son of Freeman Lee and Hattie Mae Frost.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Paulette Frost; three children, Laurie Frost George and her husband, Gary; Philip L. Frost Jr. and his wife, Melinda, and Gary L. Frost and his wife, Melanie, all of Bangor; Twelve grandchildren, Dylan, Logan and his wife, Brynn, Nicholas and his wife, Yamile, and Eve George, Philip L. III and his fiancé Brenna Kelly, Chapin and Carly Frost, Ethan, Noah, and his wife Kimberlee, Wyatt and his wife, Holly, Ezra and Greta Frost; great grandchild, Grace K. Frost; sister, Joyce Wiles and her husband, Fred Sr.; as well as several nieces and nephews with whom he kept in close contact.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, two brothers, two nephews, and two great nieces.

After graduating from Hermon High School in 1955 Phil joined the Army Reserves in September and served until September 1963. He married Donna Lee Paulette on August 21, 1959. Phil had many occupations including construction, transmission specialist, landscaping, and plumber; but his favorite job was being a grandfather and great-grandfather. Phil joined Maine Cement Products in 1964. He started as a truck driver and advanced to plant manager. He attended specialty courses at EMVTI and Besser School in Michigan. Phil was transferred to Acme Dunham as an operations manager until 1981 at which time he started his own business, Phil Frost and Sons Inc. that he operated for 26 years.

Phil’s hobbies over the years included square dancing, hunting, fishing, wood working, camping and painting landscapes. He spent many hours working on cars and home projects. There was nothing he couldn’t fix; his garage was always open.

He was a dedicated member of Grace United Methodist Church and presently the First United Methodist Church, Bangor.

Phil was a dedicated father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He supported them in everything they did including attending sporting events, award ceremonies, birthday parties, and weddings. He was Scout Leader and involved with 4H.

The grandchildren will always remember the elaborate sleepovers, hayrides, Halloween parties, Y2K sleepover, and countless holiday festivities. As they grew up there was always a vehicle repair or a school project that needed Grampy’s expertise.

With his talented woodworking skills, he created several toys and heirlooms that will be cherished for many generations.
