Phyllis Barton

Bangor - Phyllis M. Barton, 91, passed away October 30, 2015 at a local nursing facility. She was born August 27, 1924, in Northview, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Carl and Jannie (Gallop) Neilson.
Phyllis was formerly a resident of Belfast and worked for many years as a staff member of the Republican Journal. When she moved to Bangor, she spent more than 20 years as an employee of JC Penney, from which she retired. Phyllis loved tending to her flower gardens and being outdoors. She was a strong-willed woman who will be remembered as a good grandmother to her only grandson. In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Ernest Barton; her infant daughter, Bonita; and son, Frederick Barton. She is survived by her grandson, Rick Barton of Elk Grove, CA; great granddaughter, Caitlin Barton; sisters, Greta and Beryl; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
