BANGOR - Phyllis Rose, 89, died peacefully March 2, 2023, at a local nursing home, after a long illness due to Alzheimer's. She was born March 28, 1934, to Frances (Dawes) and Daniel Reynolds.
Phyllis grew up on the Kansas Road, in Milbridge with her brothers, Frankie, Nathaniel, Albert, and sister, Beatrice. After completing both Milbridge Elementary School and Milbridge High School, she married Donald Alexander, in 1950, and brought two sons into the world, James and Bradley, whom she loved very much.
She moved to Pasadena, California and met Leo Rose. She remarried to Leo Rose in 1976 and both were devoted and active members of the Worldwide Church of God and eventually moved to the Church Center in Pasadena, California. In 1989, they moved back to Maine and were active in Bangor area churches.
Phyllis had many dreams and wanted to live life to the very fullest; she enjoyed the traveling she did and even wrote a book in 2004 entitled, "The Rose Garden."
Surviving Phyllis, are her brother, Nathaniel, of Bangor; her son, James, of Orrington; grandchildren, Jimmy, BJ, and Jackie; great grandson, Roy; and stepchildren, Joe Rose and Dave Rose.
A Celebration of Phyllis’ Life will be held at a date and time to be announced in the spring at the Alexander home in Orrington. Anyone who knew Phyllis and would like to participate can contact her son James, at babywhale@roadrunner.com for details.
