Porter Chester

CHESTER C. PORTER SR.
BANGOR – Chester Porter Sr., 78, passed away Monday September 16, 2013 doing what he loved, fishing. He was born July 22, 1935, in Houlton, the son of Augustus Paul and Madeline McNally. Chester worked for many years as a truck driver for Ralph Curtis and then H.O. Bouchard. On February 1, 1957 he married Elizabeth Paavilainen and they shared fifty six years together. Chester and Elizabeth both worked on stock cars and were avid NASCAR fans. He loved the outdoors especially when he was out hunting and fishing. Chester was a great friend with a great sense of humor and a very giving heart. His greatest treasure was his family and he will be greatly missed by them, especially by the grandchildren to whom he was a “Wonderful Papa”. He was predeceased by his parents, a daughter Irene Byther, a daughter-in-law Liz Porter, a granddaughter Hope Porter, a grandson Bryan Byther and a brother George. In addition to his wife Elizabeth Porter of Bangor, he leaves behind seven children, Joyce Booth and her husband Douglas of Merrimac, NH, Chester Porter Jr. and his friend Jeannie White of Prospect., Donna Potvin and her husband George of Holden, James Porter of Bangor, Tina Hopkins of Bangor, Troy Porter and his friend Linda Roberts of Hampden, Elizabeth “Cricket” Porter and her friend Terry McCann of Winterport, a foster son Bodean Byther of Augusta, sixteen grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren. He also leaves behind six siblings, Lois, Gladys, Joanne, Mary, Frankie, Myrtle, as well as several nieces and nephews.
