Priscilla Adams

April 29, 1941 — June 9, 2021

Priscilla Jean “Pat” Adams
LEVANT – Priscilla Jean “Pat” Adams died at her home in Levant on June 9, 2021, at the age of 80. She was born on April 29. 1941 in Brownville, Maine, the daughter of Ruel Brown and Mildred (St. Louis) Brown.
Pat’s was an artistic soul; she was eternally drawn to the creative side of things. From her long-time work as a hairstylist and cosmetologist – a job that had her traveling the country and earning trophies at hair shows through the mid-1960s into the early ‘70s – to the other creative hobbies she came to later in life, Pat brought an artistic flair to everything that she did. She was a no-nonsense woman with an artist’s spirit, salty and sweet – endearing and fascinating and utterly unique.
She was a roamer by nature, one who only settled down (more or less) when she met Gary Adams, who she married in May of 1975.
Pat’s creative streak came through in her passion for hairstyling, whether she was working at a salon or at her own in-home business. She also found joy in ceramics, painting and glazing creations that accumulated both on her own shelves and on the shelves of the many people with whom she generously shared these gifts. She enjoyed flowers, NASCAR and the Food Network and loved her family and friends with affectionate ferocity.
She was also a devoted patron of the performing arts, a huge fan of the many shows that she attended. There were few things that she loved more than going to a show – particularly those that starred her favorite local performers (you know who you are). No one was a better audience member than Pat, who was always delighted by the magic of the stage and unafraid to lose herself to that magic.
And she was never happier – and never prouder – than when she watched one of her own perform, whether it was on stage or screen or playing field. If she could be there to watch one of her kids, she would be, forever supportive.
Pat is survived by her two children, four stepchildren and a multitude of grand- and great-grandchildren. Her daughter Elizabeth Adams, of Bangor; her son Allen Adams and his wife Sheridan, of Bangor. Her stepdaughters: Tammy L. Petersen and her husband David, of Oxford, CT; Sue Blasavage and her husband Michael, of Oxford, CT; Lorraine A. Roque and her husband Joseph, of Bethlehem, CT. Her stepson: Gary L. Adams II. Her grandchildren: Ashley L. Stange, Erik Stange, Ian Stange, Caitlin Petersen, Bryan Petersen, Matthew J. Adams, Courtney Doherty and Nickolas Perrow. Her great-grandchildren: Sebastian Stange, Brooklyn Myers, Kaylii J. Adams and Isaac Doherty.
She is also survived by her brother David Armstrong and his wife B.J., as well as a multitude of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins and more. She was predeceased by her husband Gary, her parents and her brothers Richard and Everett.
All are welcome to call 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St. in Bangor. A funeral service will be held there at noon on Thursday, June 17. Interment will follow at Waugh Cemetery in Levant.
