Priscilla Hartery

October 1, 1941 — December 13, 2018

Priscilla Ellen (Carter) Hartery, 77, the family is deeply saddened to announce her passing after a long illness on December 13, 2018, at her home in Holden. She was born October 1, 1941, in Winthrop, MA, the daughter of John E. and Catherine M. (Moore) Carter.

Priscilla was raised in the greater Bangor area with her 3 brothers. She graduated from Orono High School in the Class of 1960. Priscilla married her husband Edward B. Hartery in 1970 and raised four children in Bangor. She worked for the Green Stamp Store in Bangor for many years and St. Mary’s School as a cook and for the church rectory as a housekeeper until she retired. Priscilla enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and pets, gardening, camping, reading and doing puzzles. She always stated, when asked what she was the proudest of, “my four children and grandchildren”.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, oldest brother John Carter, and her oldest son Aaron Hartery. She leaves behind her children, Daniel Hartery and wife Julie of Orono, Brian Hartery of Bangor, Valerie Larson and her husband Chris of Holden; she was a proud grandmother of Carley Hartery, Tanis Hartery, Victoria Hartery, Mackenzie Hartery, Mason Hartery, and Nathaniel Larson; brothers, Bruce Carter of Seffner, FL, Allen and Norma Carter of York, her best friend who she called her little sister, Katina Campbell-Ouellett of Alfred, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be greatly missed by all who had the privilege to love and know her.

Friends may call from 5-7 PM, Mon, December 17, 2018, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 11 AM, Tues, December 18, 2018, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor. Following the Committal Prayers, relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments in the St. John’s Catholic Church parish hall. Gifts in her memory may be made to St. Jude’s Children Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
