BANGOR – Ralph E. Deane, 90, died peacefully January 29, 2020. He was born December 20, 1929, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Loomis A. and Emma E. (Gotrreau) Deane.
Ralph graduated from Fort Fairfield High School, Class of 1947. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, where he served 20 years and retired. He continued his military service in the U.S. Air National Guard for an additional 11 years, serving his country for a total of 31 years. Ralph had a strong work ethic and wasn’t one to sit idle. After his military career, he pursued his love of carpentry, almost until the day he died. Ralph and his wife, Joan, were longtime members of St. John’s Catholic Church in Bangor. Ralph treasured his summers spent at Lucerne with his family, and winters with his wife in Florida. Ralph’s dry sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by sisters, Dorothy and Helen. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Joan (Pelletier) Deane; his sons, Mark Deane, Wayne Deane and wife, Bonnie, Stephen Deane and wife, Susan; a daughter, Lisa Springer and husband, Ronald; grandchildren, Mike, Ben, Jessica, Morgan, James, Madison; great-grandchildren, Hunter, Porter, Beckett, Everly; and a sister, Ruth.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 2-4 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2020, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m., Monday February 3, 2020, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor. All are welcome to share conversation and refreshments in the parish hall immediately following the Mass, Monday. Private interment will be in Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor, in the spring.
