Bangor – Ralph Edgar Smith Jr., 87, died peacefully February 27, 2015 at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born May 15, 1927, in East Livermore, the son of Ralph E. and Gladys (Kendall) Smith.
After graduating from high school, Ralph joined the United States Navy and proudly served his country during World War II. He later gained employment at the Maine Central and B & A Railroads, but later retired from the Bangor School Department where he worked in the maintenance department. Ralph was also a member of several senior citizens organizations in the Bangor area.
Ralph is survived by his wife Charlotte; son Gary Smith and wife Jean, and their children Lauren Vague and husband Alex, and Michael Smith, daughter Brenda Gladu and husband Kevin, and their son Patrick and wife Regina, and son Brian Smith and wife Dana, and their daughter Brianna Savoie and husband Alec; great grandchildren Nina Sapine Gladu, Sienna Gladu, Sierra Gladu, Jackson Savoie, and Brayden Vague; and stepchildren, James Jacobsen and Janet Deans. In addition to his parents, Ralph was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Ann (Tesseo) Smith, who died in 1997.
