Raymond Chabre

July 30, 1947 — December 17, 2017

Hermon – Raymond “Bee” Chabre, 70, died after a valiant battle with cancer December 17, 2017, surrounded by his family. He was born July 30, 1947, in Lille, the son of Adrien and Agathe (Gagnon) Chabre.

Bee attended schools in Van Buren, but he did not graduate because he was drafted into the Army to serve his country, which he did with pride. When he returned from Viet Nam, Bee went to work at Baker’s Machine Shop in Van Buren. Bee married the love of his life, Andrina, in 1968, a union which lasted 49 years. When he moved his family to Baileyville, he worked as a millwright, a job he held until he retired. Bee was a member of the Calais American Legion Post #3, and the Breakneck Mountain ATV Riders. He enjoyed fishing and going moose hunting, but his absolute favorite thing to do was to ride his Harley Trike. Family was Bee’s pride and joy. He loved his sons-in-law and doting on his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Bee was predeceased by brothers Gerald and Donald. He is survived by his loving wife, Andrina; daughters Tammy Oakes and husband Aaron, and Cindy Phelps and husband Shawn; four grandchildren, Allessa, Breanne, Trent, and Brayden; siblings, Charlene Elmblad, Vern Chabre and wife, Leona, Geraldine Whidden and husband Charlie, Barbara Ladue and husband Bob, Doreen Ayotte, and husband Scott, and Rodney Chabre; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; and many, many nieces and nephews.

There will be a family gathering at a later date. His urn will be placed in the niche wall at the Veterans Cemetery in Caribou in the spring.
