Raymond Fogg

March 31, 1951 — February 7, 2015

GLENBURN – Raymond A. Fogg, 63, passed away Feb. 7, 2015, at home in Glenburn surrounded by his loving family. Ray was born March 31, 1951, in Belfast, and the son of Carroll S. and Katherine B. Fogg. He attended Hampden and Presque Isle schools and graduated in 1969 from Hampden Academy. Ray enjoyed having a purpose and stayed busy. He started out as an auto mechanic and drag raced cars on the weekends where he met many lifetime friends. Soon he started his own business, operating a service and convenience store with his father for ten years. In the mid-eighties Ray went to work selling heavy duty trucks for Mack and after a few years went to work selling Ford trucks with Bob Whited. Ray worked the rest of his career with Whited Truck as the heavy duty trucks sales manager. Ray enjoyed getting out in the field and meeting with his customers all over the state. He will be missed by his long list of loyal customers and the crew at Whited. Ray got his private pilot license at an early age and loved flying. Ray and his wife Dawn formed Aerial Photo Service of Maine, Inc. Along with them doing aerial photography Ray enjoyed flying biologists doing eagle and osprey surveys all over New England. He also flew fire patrol for a couple of years for the Maine Forest Service. In the last few years they also started Fogg’s Firewood and enjoyed building and satisfying a new list of customers. Ray loved adventure and the outdoors from an early age. He was a registered Maine Guide for many years. He loved traveling and going to new places especially Alaska and Labrador. He was usually thinking about, reading about, talking about and planning the next adventure with family and friends. Ray also enjoyed training Labrador Retrievers for many years. He enjoyed competing in and judging field trials all over the U.S. and Canada. He was successful enough to compete in the Canadian National Amateur Championship with his devoted companion Tugger. Ray was predeceased by his parents and brothers Robert Sanborn and Terry Harriman of Orland. Ray is survived by his wife, Dawn, of Glenburn; his sister Marcia Glatt and husband, Terry, of Levant; his three children, Carol Kwiatkowsky and husband, Colt, of Brewer, Jeff Fogg of Holden, Peter Fogg and wife, Amy, of Holden; two step children, Mark Smith of Mars Hill and Terri Ring and fiancé Brian Keith of Houlton; his much loved grandchildren, Lauren Fogg, Katherine Fogg, Jamie Fogg, Drew Fogg, Peyton Fogg and Ashton Kwiatkowsky; Marissa Smith, Gracion Smith, Cadence Smith, Michael Ring, and Garrett Ring; brothers and sisters, Rose Shaw of Waterville, Paul Sanborn and wife Kathy of SC, Jan Wardwell and husband Joel of Bucksport, Ruthann Luttrell and husband Mark of Orland, Cecelia Ames and husband Rusty of Verona, Alice Davis of Orland, Garry Harriman and wife Kathy of Bucksport, Nikki Smith and husband Alan of Orland: sister-in-laws, Jill Sanborn of Orland and Heather Harriman Hersey of Orland, and several nieces and nephews.


The family expresses sincere gratitude to the staff of Hospice of Eastern Maine. The family invites relatives and friends to share in a Celebration of Life Gathering, 6-8 PM, Friday, Feb. 13, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor.
