Raymond Lupo

June 23, 1934 — April 30, 2020

Raymond R Lupo, 85, passed away April 30, 2020, at home with his family by his side. Ray was born June 23, 1934, in West Warwick, Rhode Island.

He married Shirley Ayer of Hampden, they were married for 42 years when Shirley passed away. Ray spent 20 years in the US Military until retirement. Ray worked at the Bangor Airport and then in the Bangor Post Office where he worked until retiring after 16 years. He was an active member of the VFW, he was Post Commander in Bangor, Hampden, and District 4. Ray went on to become an ALL American State Commander. Ray was also elected to the National Councilman to represent both Maine and New Hampshire, he also held many Chairmanships both on the Post, District, State and National levels.

Some of his Military awards were the Air Medal, Air Force Commendation with cluster, Combat Readiness Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Korean, Vietnam National Defense with Two Stars, and Good Conduct from Navy and Air Force.

Ray is survived by two daughters, Cheryl and her husband, Scott Clukey, of Pennsylvania, Donna and her husband, Allen Taft, of Charleston, South Carolina; son, Lionel Lupo, of Ellsworth, Maine; brother, Philip Lupo, of Idaho; four sisters, Gen DeCesare, Anna Lanier, Dolores Lupo, and Mary and her husband, Roger Gavin, all of West Warwick, Rhode Island; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Raymond and his family would like to extend a special thank you to Northern Light Homecare Hospice.

A funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday June, 13, 2020 at the Hamdpen-Gilpatrick Chapel of Brookings-Smith 45 Western Avenue with Rev. David Gardner officiating. Relatives and friend are welcome to call from 10 AM until the time of service that Saturday. Interment will be at Locust Grove, Hampden, following the service.
