BREWER –Raymond A.F. Rauscher died suddenly on Sunday January 5, 2020 at his home. He was born April 28, 1967 in Stratford, NJ, the first of two children of Raymond C. Rauscher of Stratford and Lois M. Rauscher of Pine Hill, NJ. Ray led a remarkable and fulfilling life. Inspired by his spirit of adventure, he joined the U.S Air Force at 17 years old, and was assigned to duty in Hawaii as a cryptographic communications specialist. Eventually he was transferred to Beale AFB CA., before finally joining the Maine Air National Guard. After initially being assigned to supply, he was selected to become an Inflight Air Refueling Specialist (boom operator), a job at which he excelled, becoming an instructor in the field. Ray continued his career, holding many secondary positions concurrently as a boom operator. He eventually retired after 32 years of service to his country in 2017. During this time he participated in numerous campaigns where airpower was employed throughout the world, including combat operations. He continued to serve his military family as a contractor until his death. In addition to his military service, Ray served his community through membership in other organizations. He was a member of the Ralph J. Pollard Lodge #217, AF&M, Orrington, the LOW XII Chapter of the Widow’s sons as well as the Anah Shrine (where he was Potentate’s aide) and the Order of Quetzalcoatl. He also regularly attended church and was always ready to help those in need.Ray always tried to enjoy his life and the people in it. Besides his military career he enjoyed riding his Harley, and spending quality time with his friends and family. His most treasured activities were gaming with his son Jakob, discussing life with his daughter Nicole, four wheeling with his brother Mike and enjoying a “frosty adult beverage” with his favorite people. Ray was predeceased by his mother Lois Rauscher. He is survived by his son Jakob Rauscher, his daughter Nicole Rauscher, both his grandchildren Arjeta and Elira, and his little buddy Joshua Harris. In addition he is survived by his father Raymond C. Rauscher his wife Jane Rauscher, his brother Michael Rauscher and wife Erica, and children Francesca, Alyssa, Brandon and Jason, and his cousin Gary Sharp. He is also survived by his adopted family which includes Paul Dempsey and Edward Seymour, (anyone else very close to him) and the many friends he impacted in multiple ways. Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a memorial service to be held on Friday, January 17th at 9:30 A.M. at Calvary Chapel, 154 River Road, Orrington ME 04474 with a reception to follow. A short burial service will be held at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Mt. Vernon Road Augusta, immediately following at 1:00 P.M.
