"Becky Nanny," "Dahlin"
Brewer - Rebecca Rachel Elkins, 88, went to be with The Lord on August 17, 2022. She was blessed to have passed away in her home surrounded by her children, the birds, and her flowers which she loved dearly.
She is the daughter of Norman and Laura Doyle. Nana Becky's world revolved around children, guiding her to her career as a nanny. Some of the children she nannied even remained close to her as adults, especially Tracy. She had many special grandchildren and great-grandchildren whose pictures lined her walls. She loved a very special little boy, Ben, with all her heart. There are many special memories we'll never forget: she spoiled her family with her cooking, and she spoiled herself with filet mignon and lobster rolls! She amazed people with her energy, and was in a bowling league and exercise classes in her late eighties! She took pride in always having her hair done by her special hairdresser, Karen, and spent many hours shopping from her hundreds of catalogs! One of her biggest wishes was granted this past year, when Tracy came together with Rebecca's daughter Bonnie and helped her cross a trip to Nashville off her "Bucket List." She loved to sneak to the slots, especially when Cindy came to visit. One of her favorite things was to just sit with her daughter Sharon by her side at night, snacking and watching game shows together. Her son David was her "fix it man". And she loved laughing with her daughter Lori, enjoying stories of the past. Our beautiful memories of Nana Becky could never fit onto this page, but will live in our hearts for eternity.
Rebecca is survived by her daughters: Bonnie Dyer, husband Jack; Sharon Davis, husband Dennis; Cindy Herold, husband Darrell; Lori Tolman, predeceased by husband Gary, son David Miles, predeceased son Ernest Miles; her two foster children she raised, Beatrice and Cecile, a sister, Pammy Seiber, and four predeceased brothers.
"Ohhhh, dear," we are going to miss you so much...
A graveside memorial service will be held on Monday the 29th at Marston Cemetery in Orrington at 3:00pm, followed by a celebration of life at Jeff's Catering in Brewer.
In lieu of flowers, please be there for any child who needs someone, as that is what Becky Nanny would have wanted.
