Bangor - Rebecca Nash, 58, passed away on March 11, 2021. She died peacefully after a year-long battle with cancer at Northern Light Hospital, surrounded by her children and her sister. Throughout, she fought like a warrior, full of grace, poise, love, and toughness.
Rebecca was born in Damariscotta, Maine on September 3, 1962, to George and Ella Nash. She will always be remembered for her perseverance in life and the many challenges she overcame to be an independent, self-made woman. Those close to her will always remember the immense talent and passion she had for cross stitching, a devotion that garnered her awards in local contests.
Her two granddaughters were her biggest source of pride, and she has left them with her personal values of unconditional love, kindness, and an understanding and empathy for those less fortunate. She was also known by her family and close friends as a self-proclaimed “crazy cat lady”; her cats, Baby Cat and Lenny, will miss her dearly. Her last wishes were to never be forgotten, and for everyone in her life to know how deeply they were loved, most notably her Mother, Sisters, Children, and grandchildren.
Rebecca is predeceased by her father, George Nash, her “bonus Dad”, John Gaudet, brother-in-law, Ken Gauthier, aunts, Alice Reed and Nedra McKinnon, uncle, Carroll Waddell, and nephew, Cullen Mahany.
She is survived by her mother, Ella Nash Gaudet; her son, Thomas Thibodeau; her daughter, Allison Atkinson; her granddaughters, Hannah Thibodeau and Ella Atkinson; sisters, Nancy Gauthier, Ruth Perreault, and Deborah Nash; her brother-in-law, Victor Perreault; her nieces, Katie Gauthier, Jessica Ushinski, Hillary Scheib, and Julie Young; her nephews, Brendan Mahany and Matthew Gauthier; uncles, Richard Waddell and Charles Waddell; aunt, Anna Waddell.
When she is remembered, please always reminisce about her passion for the people she loved, her amazing and eclectic taste in music, and her sense of humor. There will be a private memorial service at her “happy place” which is her family camp on Schoodic Lake at a date to be determined in the beginning of summer. Family and close friends will be welcome to attend.
