LaGrange
Regan “Joe” Brackett, 74, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and friends April 11th, 2024. He was born February 22nd, 1950, in Pea Cove, the son of Thale W. and Martha (Goodine) Brackett.
Joe graduated from Old Town High School and then chose to go serve his country in the US Army, serving for three years during the Vietnam war as a helicopter gunner for the Mad Dogs. He was in the 240th AHC Greyhounds Unit at Bear Cat. He moved to Connecticut after returning from the service, but after many years he returned to his home state of Maine to continue his career of excavating. Joe enjoyed driving the back roads, spending times with his 4-legged buggers, and seeing his great grandkids who knew him as Pepe and Bumpi Joe. He was the life of the party and loved to make fun and laughter. He enjoyed camping and playing games such as cornhole and monopoly (which he was the king of). He was always known to keep his cars and himself immaculate. Joe was known to be brutally honest, but he had the biggest heart. Known to be very generous and always willing to drop anything to help those he cared about.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Janie Brackett; sons, Marty Jackson Jr and wife, Joelle, and Scott Jackson and wife, Ida; sisters, Jean Armstrong, Barbie Collins and husband, Roger; grandchildren, Vivian, Emily, Tyler, Gabby, Devan, Hayley and Brandon; great-grandchildren, Rowan, Alice, and Preston; sister in-law, Cynthia Brackett; special friends, Ricky Gallagher and Randy Bubar; many nieces, nephews and friends; and his little buggers, Rascal, Punkin, and Callie. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his siblings, Mary Anne Brackett, Gerald (Buck) Brackett, Frank (Timey) Brackett, Muriel Turtlott, Thale (Wee John) H. Brackett, Allen Brackett, Richard Brackett, John Brackett, and Janet Armstrong; nephews, Scott Armstrong and Little Thale Brackett; and good friend, Keith Bridges.
