Regina “Reggie” Frances O’Neil died unexpectedly November 15, 2023, in Bangor, ME at the age of 77. Reggie was born September 20, 1946, in Wildflecken, Germany. She was the daughter of the late Stanislaw and Henryka (Wdowiak) Sobczyk.

For 57 years Reggie was the beloved wife of James M O’Neil Sr. of St. Albans ME. Loving mother to James M O’Neil Jr. and his wife Alisa of Milton MA, Christopher M O’Neil and his wife Anne-Marie of Windham NH, Daniel M O’Neil and his wife DaHuong of Milton, MA and Elizabeth (O’Neil) Best and her husband John of Milton, MA. Dear sister to the late Elizabeth O’Donnell and her husband Stephen of Quincy, MA. Devoted grandmother to her ten grandchildren: Connor O’Neil, Eilis O’Neil, Catherine Best, Jack Best, Vivian O’Neil, Regina O’Neil, Reagan O’Neil, George O’Neil, James O’Neil III and Matthew O’Neil. Aunt to Sean O’Neil, Erin O’Neil, Kathleen O’Donnell and Diana O’Donnell.

Reggie spent several years in a German displaced person’s camp after World War II before coming to America in 1951. Her parents taught their daughter the importance of family, the merit of education and the greatness of this country. She graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School in South Boston, MA in 1963. She moved to Merrimack NH in 1971 with her husband to raise their family. Reggie was involved with the Merrimack Cardinals Pop Warner football program, a teacher for the Confraternity of Christian Doctrine and an assistant Little League baseball coach for the Merrimack Youth Association.

She was employed in the Technology sector, working for Digital Equipment Corp, Compaq Computer and Hewlett-Packard, retiring in 2001. Reggie loved to have long engaging conversations with everyone and made many lasting friendships over the years. Her favorite hobbies were reading, baking for her family and spending time with her grandbabies.

The O’Neil family will hold a private celebration of her life at a later date. Gifts in her memory may be made to a charity of choice. Condolences to the family may be expressed at BrookingsSmith.com.
