Reynold J. Plourde Jr.
“Papa”
BANGOR- Reynold J. Plourde Jr., 78, died peacefully at his home in Bangor, August 6, 2020. He was born January 23, 1942, in Houlton, the son of Reynold Sr. and Geneva Plourde.
Ray proudly served his country for 37 years, first in the Air Force when he enlisted in 1960 and served in Vietnam and Guam. In 1969, Ray joined the Air National Guard in Bangor where he served the remainder of his career working as a Technician for the 101st Air Refueling Wing. He was recognized on numerous occasions for outstanding service. Ray later retired in 1997 as a Master Sergeant.
In retirement, Papa was not able to sit still for long. He kept himself busy doing odd jobs and became the neighbor that everyone counted on for assistance and he was always willing and eager to help. Even when busy, he always found time for an afternoon nap. Papa was always personable and enjoyed talking with everyone he came in contact with.
Fishing was a hobby that Papa enjoyed. He planned annual fishing trips to Island Falls with his family and his dear friend Roy. He really enjoyed this special time with his grandsons. He also looked forward to his fishing trips with the “Unity Crew”.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janice Hannigan Plourde of Bangor; Three children, Deb Burk and her husband, Dan, of Dresden, Donna Treadwell and her husband, Jay, of Bangor, Mark Plourde and his wife, Laura of Cumberland; four grandchildren, Colby Treadwell, Jordan Treadwell, Cameron Plourde, and Riley Plourde; two brothers, Lucien and his wife, Sandy, of Houlton and John and his wife, Ruth, of Hermon, nieces, nephews and his dog, Sampson. He will also be fondly remembered by Micaela Gendreau and Jackie Mundry.
Reynold was predeceased by his parents.
Relatives and friends are welcome to attend a graveside service 1:00 p.m. Monday, August 24, 2020 at the Maine Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 163 Mt. Vernon Road, Augusta, Maine 04330. Those who wish to remember Reynold in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt. Hope Avenue, Bangor, Maine 04401.
