ORONO - Rhoda (Shaw) Smith, 92, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on July 15th, 2024 at home in Orono. She was born October 24, 1931 in Yorkshire, England and immigrated to the US in 1962.
Rhoda was predeceased by her husband, Norman Smith, former Dean of Engineering at the University of Maine who passed away December 7, 1997. She is survived by her son, Rodney, his wife, Michelle, and two grandsons, Dennis and Matthew, all of Florida; and also is survived by her daughter, Janet “BJ” (Smith) Finnegan, her husband, Michael, grandson, Jack and his wife, Sarah, all of Connecticut.
Rhoda’s funeral will take place at 2:00PM on Saturday, July 27th, 2024 at Faith Baptist Church, 160 Forest Ave., Orono, with Pastor David Natale officiating. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery, Orono. The family invites Rhoda’s friends to a reception at Faith Baptist Church immediately following the interment.
