Eddington – Richard Henry Austin, 55, passed away May 7, 2016, after a brief illness, surrounded by his caregivers. He was born December 25, 1960, the son of Henry E. Austin and Barbara (Lewis) Follett.
Due to his disabilities Richard spent many years at Pineland in New Gloucester, then moved to Commonsense Housing in Eddington in 1993, where he received exceptional care from the wonderful staff there. He loved to go for rides, and he loved to eat. He enjoyed throwing rocks and sticks into the water. His drumstick was his favorite possession. He liked twirling it round and round. The staff at Commonsense Housing would like to give a special thank you to Hospice of Eastern Maine for the support of their staff as well as the loving care they showed toward Richard.
A memorial service will be held 11a.m., Monday, May 16 at the Brewer Chapel of Brookings-Smith, 55 So. Main St., Brewer. Interment will be at the Eddy Cemetery in Eddington. Those who wish to remember Richard in a special way may make gifts in his memory to Commonsense Housing, 15 Riverside Drive, Eddington, ME 04428.
