Richard J. Caron died after a brief illness in his home surrounded by family on January 28, 2023. He was born October 6, 1942 in Lewiston, the son of Joseph O. and Marie Jeanne (Auger) Caron.
Richard graduated from Saint Dominic Academy, Class of 1960. Following his graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a Private and served in Germany. He married his forever partner, Arline P. Gosselin in 1965 and celebrated 57 years of marriage. He attended Maine Military Academy graduating first in his class as a second Lieutenant and receiving the traditional honor saber. He then served in the Army Reserves for 20 years, ending his military career as a Major and concurrently worked for the Internal Revenue Service where he was well respected for his fairness, retiring in 1997. Richard enjoyed singing and was a member of several church choirs throughout his life. He was a natural homebody who loved spending time with his wife and reading on his screen porch, but his greatest pleasure was spending time with his grandkids.

He is also survived by his sister, Pauline St. Jean and her husband Jack, brother, Ronald Couture; a half brother and several half sisters, many nephews and nieces as well as dear friends who were like family, Michael and Marian Aube. In addition to his parents and his cherished in-laws, Jean and Alexandrine (Plante) Gosselin, he was predeceased by sisters Jeanine Caron and Sandra Lee Moniere.
