May 18, 1936 — June 8, 2016

BANGOR %u2013 Richard Collins Pendleton, Jr., 80, died June 8, 2016 at a Bangor nursing facility after a brief struggle with cancer. He was born May 18, 1936, the son of Richard C. Pendleton, Sr., and Pauline (Woodward) Pendleton, in Bangor, Maine, where he lived his life with the exception of only 8 years spent in Brewer and Presque Isle, Maine. Bangor was the city he loved the most. After Hebron Dick attended Colby and Husson Colleges, graduating from Husson College in 1962.
The hobby that Dick enjoyed the most was gardening. He thoroughly enjoyed working in his backyard and sharing the vegetables he grew with family, friends and neighbors. He was always ready to help out family and friends. He enjoyed playing tennis and cribbage, attending the Symphony, and eating gourmet meals, especially the ones prepared by his wife of 55 years, Sarah %u201CSally%u201D (Peabody) Pendleton. In addition to his wife, Dick is survived by his three children, Karen Pendleton and her husband Tom Mikotowicz of Bangor, George Pendleton of Portsmouth, NH, and Kathryn Pendleton and her partner George Grover of Bangor, and one granddaughter, Danielle Grover of Bangor, and two step -great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Jared. He is also survived by one sister, Sandra Bacon, and her family, and the family of his deceased sister, Joan Steppacher.
