Orrington - Richard K. Ireland, 79, died at his home unexpectedly on October 15, 2022. He was born June 1, 1943, in Bangor, the son of Allen and Phyllis (Wilcox) Ireland. Dick attended Bangor schools and served in the United States Army.
While serving in the military, he married the love of his life, Linda Curtis. They settled in Orrington in 1972 where they raised their 3 children. Dick retired from Eastern Fine Paper Co. in Brewer. He was an avid wood carver and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Dick was a member of the American Legion Post # 0012, Ralph J. Pollard Lodge #217 AF & AM of Orrington, Anah Shriners of Bangor, and the Brewer Conservation Club.
Dick was predeceased by his loving wife of 55 Years, Linda, son Dennis as well as his parents, one brother and one sister.
He is survived by son, David of Brewer; son, Jim and his wife, Libby of Bangor; eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren; one sister; several nieces and nephews; and many close friends.
A graveside service will be held 4:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2022 at Marston Cemetery, Snows Corner Road, Orrington. Relatives and friends are invited to join the family for a reception at Dick’s home immediately following the service.
