Richard Macdonald

BANGOR – Richard C. “Dickey” MacDonald, 78, died unexpectedly, April 25, 2015, at his home. He was born March 19, 1937, in Bangor, the son of Gerald and Marguerite (Fogg) MacDonald. Dick is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn F. (Woodman) MacDonald of 56 years; son, Scott MacDonald and his wife Krista; daughters, Suzanne Page, Kimmy, and Cathy Grubb Smith who was always like a daughter to Dick; three special grandsons, Ryan, Tyler, Kyle and his girlfriend Kelsy; a beautiful great grandson, Cedric, who he adored; sisters Mary Churchill and her husband, Billy and Linda Webb and her husband, Buddy; cousin Ruthann Winchester; niece Lynn MacDonald, who had a special place in Dicks heart; and numerous other nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his sister, DoDo Bouchard. Dickey’s passions in life were his three grandsons, listening to country music, washing and waxing his many vehicles, sitting on the rocks at Schoodic Point, and long scenic drives with Carol. His greatest pride in life however, was providing for his family. He was able to accomplish this by working very hard and owning several businesses, including; Scotty’s Carpet Cleaning, MacDonald’s Market on the corner of Mt. Hope and Grove St., Bangor, MacDonald;s Market on Garland St., Bangor, MacDonald’s Market on Broadway, Bangor, and MacDonald’s Market on S. Main St. Brewer. Dick always very much appreciated all of his many long time customers that supported him throughout all of his working days.
Relatives and friends are welcome to call 5-7 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2015, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 2, 2015, with the Rev. Garnett Chute, officiating. Interment will be private for the family. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor, following the service.
