Richard Russell

November 22, 1938 — February 19, 2022

FRANKLIN – Richard “Dick” Russell, 83, passed away February 19, 2022, at an Ellsworth hospital. He was born November 22, 1938, in Brewer, the son of George and Jean (McQuillan) Russell.

Dick graduated from Bangor High School, Class of 1957. Following graduation, he served four years in the Marine Corps Reserves. He was employed by Viner Music, Dunham Hanson, Byron Smith, and LaVerdiere’s, in Bangor.
Dick is survived by his niece, Lynn (Russell) Ouellette and her husband, Bob, of Brunswick, Maine and Spring Hill, Florida; several cousins; two special friends, Dick McClay, of Bangor, and Sherm “Harry” Bernard, of Brooklyn, New York. In addition to his parents, Dick was predeceased by his soulmate, Carolyn Coleman; brother, Roland “Kip” Russell and his wife, Louise; and his sister, Sharon.

Dick will be remembered for his quick wit and sense of humor, his caring ways and kindness to everyone. He had a passion for old music and movies and was sharp with correct answers on Jeopardy.

A graveside service will be held in the spring in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Bangor at a date and time to be determined. Those who wish to remember Dick in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Lafayette Cancer Center, C/O Northern Light Health Foundation, P.O. Box 931, Bangor, ME 04402.
