Richard Tardif

April 30, 1933 — September 19, 2023

Bangor - Richard Joseph Tardif, 90, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2023 with his family by his side. He was born April 30, 1933, in Lewiston, the son of the late Jules and Marguerite (Thompson) Tardif.

He grew up and attended schools in Lewiston then joined the Marine Corps during the Korean War. Following his discharge, he returned home and went to work for Nabisco in their Lewiston plant which later relocated operations to Bangor. Richard chose to make the move to Bangor with them and continued working for them for over 30 years. Shortly after his move to Bangor, he met and married Jeanette, his wife of 48 years. Together they spent winters in Venice, FL, and summers at the family cottage in Bayside, ME, which is where they settled into living year-round.

Richard loved sailing, playing golf, was a past Commodore of the Northport Yacht Club, member of First Baptist Church of Bangor, and member and Past Master of St. Andrews Lodge #83 A.F. & A.M. of Bangor, Scottish Rite Bodies Valley of Bangor, and Anah Shriners.

Richard is survived by his brother, Guy Tardif and significant other, Suzanne Thompson, of Bluffton, SC; sons, Raymond Tardif of Cushing, Bertrand Tardif and wife, Sue of Minot, and Paul Tardif of Leeds; daughter, Joline Landry of Opelika, AL; stepdaughter, Pamela Frye and husband, Peter of Hermon; stepson, Steven Flowers of Rockland; 8 grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Jeanette (Hook) Tardif, his brother, Julien Tardif, his sisters, Georgette Tardif and Rachel Tardif, and 3 grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be private for the family.
