Holden - Richard W. West, 80, died November 7, 2021 at his home in Holden. He was born November 12, 1940, in Brewer, the son of Robert N. and Marion Eudora (Smith) West.
Dick graduated with a degree from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft, East Hartford, CT as a jet engine specialist in their apprenticeship program, 1963. He graduated from the University of Southern Maine with a Bachelor of Science, 1978. Dick worked the majority of his career as the Trade and Tech Department Chairman at the Northern Maine Community College, 1973 - 2000.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, canoeing, camping and was an avid firearms enthusiast. In 1996 Dick and his wife, Carolyn built their dream cabin on Holbrook Pond. He loved tinkering around the cabin and fishing with the grandkids when they came to visit.
Dick is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carolyn Anne (Sproul) West; his daughter, Kimberly Seal and her husband, Eric, of South Carolina; his three sons, Christopher West and his wife, Donna, of Massachusetts, Mark West and his wife, Lisa, of Bowdoinham, and David West and his wife, Malerie, of Holden; seven grandkids, Daniela, Danny, Mathew, Allison, Connor, Bella and Gabby along with several great-grandchildren.
Dick was predeceased by his father, Robert and mother, Marion.
At Dick’s request, there will be a small private family celebration of life.
