With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rita Alma Nelson, beloved daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother/memere, who entered the arms of her Savior on January 18, 2025, at the age of 92. Born on September 17, 1932, in Winterport, Maine, Rita was a lifelong resident of this close-knit community, where she devoted her life to her family and her faith.

Rita graduated from Winterport High School in June 1951 and soon after married the love of her life, Donald Nelson, in July of the same year. Their marriage of 71 years was a testament to their deep love and commitment to one another. Rita found joy in her role as a homemaker, where she created a warm and nurturing home for her family. She was a dedicated member of St. Gabriel's Catholic Church, where her faith sustained her throughout her life.

A lover of literature, gardening, and long walks, Rita found happiness in both the simple and beautiful moments of life. Her passion for nurturing her garden reflected her caring nature.
