HOLDEN – Robert E. Blais, 62, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2013 at a Bangor Hospital. He was born April 2, 1951 in Lac Megantic, Canada, the son of Hector L. and Mary D. (Elliott) Blais.
Bob was in the US Army and he served in the Vietnam War as a helicopter door gunner. When Bob returned home from Vietnam, he lived life to the fullest. Bob loved spending time outside, whether he was camping, fishing, hunting or 4-wheeling; Bob was always ready for an adventure. Bob was a fixture down at the lake and his friends will miss seeing him coming down the road on his 4-wheeler, with his dog “Buddy” running beside him.
Bob is survived by his son Jay Blais and wife Toni and grandson Steven Blais of Fresno California, a daughter Elizabeth Blais of Winterport. In addition to his surviving children, a brother J. Peter Blais, Sykesville MD., brother Michael Blais and wife Vicki Blais of Milford, a half brother John Harding of Greenfield, half sister Jane Delong of Greenfield, half sister Mary Henderson of Brewer and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents Bob is predeceased by, a sister, Shirley Mitchell and a brother, William Blais.
A Memorial Reception will be held 1-3 p.m., Saturday September 21, 2013, at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor. Interment will be in St. Agnes Cemetery, Lac Megantic, Canada. Those who wish to remember Bob in a special way may make gifts in his memory to the Bangor Humane Society, 693 Mt.
