Robert Blake

June 17, 1939 — December 5, 2016

BANGOR and SHERMAN – Robert “Bob” Blake, 77, died peacefully December 5, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 17, 1939 in Sherman Mills, son of Charles Winfield and Isabelle (Heath) Blake.

Bob was a graduate of Sherman High School, class of 1958. He retired from the Great Northern Paper Co.as a Paper Inspector in 1990 after 25 years of service. When Bob was 21 years old he was the youngest Deputy Sheriff in Aroostook County where he served as a Deputy for 25 years. He was also Town Constable of Sherman for 20 years. Bob and Sandy came to Bangor in 1991 where he was employed as the Onsite Manager for Bangor Efficiency Apartments for 8 years.

Surviving are his loving wife of 56 years (they were married June 18, 1960), Sandra (Nicholson) Blake; two sons, Gary Blake and Glen Blake, all of Bangor; one daughter, Lynnette Merry and her partner, Jeff Clements of Plymouth; four grandchildren, Jennifer Shaw and her partner, Chad Spann of Hampden, Jason Blake of Bangor, Gerald Merry and his wife, Makayla of Pittsfield, Kaitlin Blake and her partner, Justin Stockley of Presque Isle; six great-grandchildren, Bailey, Parker, Layton, Brody, Braelyn and Erin; one brother, Lewis Blake of Presque Isle; nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Lucille and a brother, Rodney.

A memorial service will be held 3pm Thursday, December 8, 2016 at the Messiah Baptist Church, 985 Union Street, Bangor. Relatives and friends are welcome to call from 2pm until time of service Thursday. A reception will follow in the church immediately following the service.
