BANGOR - Robert "Bob" Gordon Bell, 87, died December 27, 2013 at the Maine Veterans Home, Bangor. He was born September 26, 1926 in Bangor the son of Harry and Gertrude (Wilson) Bell.Bob was a graduate of Hampden Academy and a U. S Navy veteran of WWII, serving in the Pacific Theater on the USS Topeka. Bob had been employed by GTE Sylvania of Bangor for many years. He was a member of the Bangor Lodge of Elks #244, the American Legion Post #75 , and the V.F.W Post #3381 both of Old Town. Surviving are seven children, Robert G. Bell Jr., of Roanoke VA, Walter L. Bell of Milford, Crystal M. Bell of Brewer, William H. Bell of Old Orchard Beach, Timothy J. Bell of Bangor, Debra L. Miller and Nancy J. Bell, both of Brewer; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; one brother, Raliegh Bell of Maryland. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Ethellee (Lamb) Bell, a brother, Walter J. Bell, and sister, Dorothy Gilmore.A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Stephen Sinclair, pastor of the River City Wesleyan Church of Bangor, officiating. Friends are welcome to call 1 p.m. until time of service on Thursday.
