Robert Bryant

July 22, 1941 — March 2, 2023

Robert (Bob) Leroy Bryant, passed away peacefully on March 2nd at the age of 81 surrounded
by his family. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Bryant.

Bob also leaves behind Stacey and Peter Nason, Kerry and Robert Daigle, Allison Bryant and
Amy Chute, and Aaron and Laura Bryant as well as grandchildren Lauren and Shawn Evans,
Sara Nason, Lydia Bryant, and Finley Bryant, five great-grandchildren, and other close family
members Chance and Rei.

Bob was born in 1941 in Bangor and soon moved to Hampden. By twelve, he was a self-taught
carpenter and built or assisted in building homes for many close family members. Bob found his
interest in cars at an early age. As a youth, he entered an automotive design competition
sponsored by Fisher Body. A few of the many features of the hand-carved and painted model
car he entered in the competition made into General Motors production cars, including the
famous triple tail lights first seen on 1958’s Chevrolet Impala and the integrated front bumper
and grill, which later became an industry standard.

In 1967, Bob began the restoration of a Model T Ford. This project caught the eye of many local
antique auto enthusiasts, sparking a family business start-up in 1971 selling parts and offering
restoration services for Ford Model “A” and Model “T” cars and trucks. Bob enjoyed over 45
years running Bryant’s Antique Auto Parts in Hampden. The most notable of his projects was a
fully functional 1910 Stanley Steamer that now resides in the Stanley Museum in Kingfield. Bob
eventually restored over 20 cars, still admired by automotive enthusiasts nationwide. Ford Motor
Company featured Bob’s 1938 Ford convertible as a centerfold in Ford Times Magazine shortly
after its completion. In addition to restoring cars, Bob was an avid flier and member of the
Experimental Aircraft Association.

Over the years, Bob and Linda had their own struggles but always found ways to give back.
They welcomed both family and friends into their home and were always willing to lend a hand.
Bob put integrity first and was a good-humored, talented, hard-working, and trustworthy man.
He carved his own unique path through life with his talents as a craftsman. He will be fondly
remembered as a resourceful, faithful husband and a selfless, devoted, and loving father.
Family and friends will be invited to join together in Hermon for a celebration of Bob’s life July
22, 2023.
