Robert Bryce

Robert “Bob” Edward Bryce, 79, passed away October 19, 2016, after a brief illness surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 14, 1937, in Bangor, the son of Frank E. and Irene (Ireland) Bryce. Bob was an amazing husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a friend to many and loved by many more. Bob was a true example of hard work and determination which he passed on to his children. There are no words to describe how much he will be missed. Bob graduated from Bangor High School in the Class of 1956. He worked for the B & A Railroad for 9 years, and as a Police Officer with the City of Bangor for 23 years. Bob also worked as a safety specialist for Cianbro Corporation in Maine, Maryland, and Mass. He enjoyed his time spent on his family farm raising Polled Herefords and many other animals. Bob especially enjoyed being in the hayfield with his family mowing, baling and trucking hay to his barn. He spent many years raising Dobermans, and will be sadly missed by his constant companion Gus. Bob is survived by the love of his life, wife of 60 years, Cynthia (Wiley) Bryce of Bangor; four sons, James Bryce of Baltimore, MD, Thomas Bryce and wife Kathy of Sudlersville, MD, Robert Bryce II and wife Shawn of Hagerstown, MD, Timothy Bryce and wife Jennifer of New Harbor; three daughters, Janet Coffin of Bangor, Joanna Biden and husband Kevin of Westminster, MD, Melissa Bryce of Westminster, MD; 17 grandchildren, Cameron Bryce, Beryl Bryce Chafin, David Bryce, Jahmere Bryce, Korsha Bryce, Elissa Poirer, Bryce Coffin, Thomas Bryce II, Paige Bryce, Corey Bryce, Dylan Bryce, Erin Bryce, Kayla Shorrow, Tyler Seals, Tessa Seals, Teagan “Triggah” Bryce, Laela “Falala” Martinez; three great-grandchildren, Aidan Poirer, SJ and JoJo Shorrow; a brother, Roger Bryce and wife Trudy; and a brother-in-law, Fred Morin. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sisters, Marilyn “Jean” Flanagan and Sandra Bryce Morin; a nephew, Michael Flanagan.
Friends may call from 6-8 PM, Fri, Oct 21, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center Street, Bangor. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 AM, Sat, Oct 22, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. John’s Catholic Church, 207 York Street, Bangor, followed by the Rite of Committal at Oak Grove Cemetery, Finson Road, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center Street, Bangor, following the Committal Prayers.
