BANGOR, ME - Robert John Cota, 75, left this world Tuesday, July 23, 2019, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with Prostate Cancer and Non Hodgkin Lymphoma. He was born June 23, 1944 in Bangor and raised in Orono, son of the late Wilfred “Beauty” and Lois Lamson Cota.
He graduated from John Bapst High School, 1962. He served in the Maine Army National Guard before becoming a milkman for Pleasant Hill Dairy where he worked for 20 years before it closed. Bob then worked for Getchell Brothers, in Brewer, delivering ice and selling ice cream for the following 20 years.
His entire life was devoted to serving others. He loved talking to all the people he met along his routes. He was one of the friendliest and kindest people. Bob was always happiest when he was with his family. He taught them that life is not about having what you want; it’s about wanting what you have. They will carry his love and wisdom with them always.
Bob will be dearly missed by his loving wife of 51 years, Margaret “Peggy” Cota, his beloved children; Laurie Kimball and her husband, Charles of Brewer, and Brian Cota of Bangor. He left behind his absolute pride and joys, his four beloved grandchildren: Catelyn and Colin Kimball, and Brandon and Brianna Cota. Robert also leaves behind a sister, Donna Walker, of South Portland, a brother, Allen Cote, of Holden, a loving mother in-law, Catherine Fessenden, of Bangor, sister-in-law, Cathy Shoemaker and her husband, Henry of Holden, brother in-law, Arnie Fessenden Jr. and his wife, Sharon Cormier, of Dedham, brother in-law, Steve Fessenden, of Bangor, and many nieces and nephews.
