Robert ‘Bob’ Darveau, 76, died at home on June 18, 2024, after a short battle with colon and lung cancer. He was the son of Robert Darveau, Sr. and Annabelle Louise (Russell) Darveau.
Bob graduated from Cony High School, Augusta, in 1966. After graduating, he served in Viet Nam, where he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts and the Silver Star. In 1985, he graduated from UMO with an Associate’s Degree in Substance Abuse Counseling. He was one of the founders of the Bangor Chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart and served in all leadership positions, including Commander. Of all his accomplishments, he was most proud of his time serving in the Bangor Chapter.
Surviving in addition to his wife, Candice (Carey) Darveau; are 5 stepchildren, Jaime Ellis, Ryan Ellis, Holly Bishop, Howard Bishop and Dennis VanLeer; 3 grandchildren, Walker Goins, Gavin Marquis and R.J. (Ryan) Ellis.
The family wishes to thank Beacon Hospice for their superior care. Every single nurse went above and beyond caring for Bob. Also, many thanks to everyone from Brookings-Smith for all their help and kindness.
At the request of Bob, there will be no services and his ashes will be scattered where he requested.
